A new Russian Analytical Digest, a special issue about the state of the Russian economy, includes a piece by Michael Rochlitz. Michael wrote about the potential of the Russian economy, how the problem of Russia's economic stagnation - no real progress for more than ten years - is fundamentally political, and how an alternative future could look like. While most economists agree that a number of bold policy changes could stop the stagnation, the Russian government, unfortunately, continues to implement policies that constantly make things worse, by fixing prices, limiting competition, scaling up repression, and chasing smart people out of the country.
