Professor of Communication Networks
Professor AnnaFörster studied computer science in her home town of Sofia, Bulgaria. “Nothing unusual for women at that time,” says the 38-year-old. Later she was to experience things differently in Berlin and at the University of Bremen. “In the meantime, however, women have recognized the attractiveness of the subject,” says the researcher, who took up a professorship at the University of Bremen in 2015. She researches and plans sustainable communication networks in the Faculty of Physics/Electrical Engineering. These include smart cities, power grids and homes.
Anneliese Niehoff
Leader of the Equal Opportunities and Antidiscrimination Unit
Anneliese Niehoff has known the University of Bremen for a long time: The leader of the Equal Opportunities and Antidiscrimination Unit gave up a secure job as a treasury officer to take her degree in Political Science here in 1997. After graduating, Anneliese Niehoff initially worked as a research assistant for a member of the Bundestag in Bonn. The topic of gender politics concerned her even then. In 2001 she moved to the University. She is still involved in her field on a federal level.
