The Law Programme
The Law Programme at the University of Bremen
The Bremen law programme will provide you with comprehensive legal knowledge and enable you to systematically understand and analyse legal questions and apply your knowledge in practice. The programme will prepare you for a future career in the judiciary, administration, finance or other fields of law.
📘 What is the programme about?
The programme covers the three main fields of law:
- civil law
- public law
- criminal law
These subjects are taught through lectures and accompanying seminars, in which you will study both the fundamentals of law and methodological techniques for analysing cases and drafting legal opinions.
🎓 Programme structure
The law programm is structured into the following sections:
1. Universiy studies
During the first semesters, you acquire systematic knowledge in the three core areas of law, as well as in additional foundational legal subjects.
2. First Law Examination
You complete your university studies with the First Law Examination, which is a prerequisite for entering the next phase of legal training.
3. Traineeship (Referendariat)
This is followed by a practical traineeship, during which you gain professional experience at various legal institutions (e.g. courts, law firms, and public administration offices).
4. Second Law Examination
The traineeship concludes with the Second Law Examination, which qualifies you to become a judge, public prosecutor, or lawyer.
