For the presentation of the Liber Amicorum, the editors organised a conference in which legal scholars from Georgia and other transition states as well as Germany participated. Prof. Knieper played an important part in the reform of civil legislation in post-Soviet states, Albania, the People's Republic of China and Mongolia, he has been esteemed and remembered as an “ambassador of legal culture and educator, a bridge-builder between different cutures and generations” for more than three decades. The laudation was delivered by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Lado Chanturia, Judge at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg and since 2024 President of Section IV at the ECHR.
