After a welcoming address by Mayor Dr. Andreas Bovenschulte, President of the Senate of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen, Hartmut Guhling, Presiding Judge at the Federal Court of Justice (XIIth Civil Sentate), opened the conference on the 5th of June with a review of 25 years marriage contract case law. This was followed by a lecture by Dr. Petra Volke, Judge at the Higher Regional Court Köln, on the Istanbul Convention in the context of German constitutional and child law. The first day ended with a lecture by Beate Jokisch, Judge at the Higher Regional Court Dresden, on children's participation in child cases. The second day started with a lecture on the interrelationship of rights of custody, rights of access and the right to maintenance by Dr. Regina Bömelburg, Presiding Judge at OLG Köln. The conference ended with a lecture by Prof. Dr. Henrike von Scheliha, Bucerius Law School, on child welfare, self-determination and protection of status in adoption law.
The programme was rounded off by excursions to Worpswede and the Rhododendronpark as well as guided tours of the Kunsthalle, the Town Hall and the Ratskeller.
