The IBS and its regions promote biometrics in research, teaching and application. The Society is dedicated to the application of statistical and mathematical methods in the health and life sciences, including agriculture. It is co-editor of the Biometrical Journal, organizes training and an annual colloquium and awards prizes to young scientists.
The German region has around 900 members and is thus one of the largest of the IBS.
