8th Bremen Symposium - Rethinking the Role of Language Centres: Flexibility, Relevance & Vision

We are very pleased to be able to award two research prizes as part of the 8th Bremen Symposium:

1.Bremer AKS RESEARCH AWARD – for doctoral and post-doctoral dissertations (€1000 Award - sponsored by SZHB, AKS, viadrina sprachen gmbh)

2. OPUS PRIMUM - Bremer AKS Research award –– for masters and magister theses (€500 Award, sponsored by g.a.s.t. / TestDaF Institute)

The awards honor outstanding research work by junior scholars in the field of foreign language learning and teaching at universities. The work should be both research-based and of practical relevance, and should provide innovative ideas for the analysis, monitoring or management of foreign language teaching and learning processes in classroom or autonomous learning contexts at universities or comparable institutions. Deadline for submissions for the research awards: November 30, 2022.

Further information on the application

The research work submitted for consideration can be in German or English. The work may be published or unpublished; if the work has been published, this needs to have been in or after 2019. The winner will be chosen by a committee of experts. Their decision is final.

Deadline for submissions: November 30, 2022

Applications must be submitted electronically to: symposion@uni-bremen.de

The application must include the following information as a single pdf file:

  • the research work
  • short synopsis/abstract (max. 1 page)
  • Applicant’s CV in tabular form with address and contact details
  • at least one expert opinion from a full-time academic expert (e.g. the supervisor of the work)
