“Considering Generative AI in Language Education in HE: The Perspectives of Learners, Teachers, and the Language Center,” a new article in Language Teaching Research Quarterly (Dec. 2025). It highlights the opportunities and risks posed by AI for teaching, learning, and testing languages.

How is generative AI changing language learning at universities? The article by Claudia Harsch, Anika Müller-Karabil, and Astrid Buschmann-Göbels discusses the opportunities and risks posed by generative AI for language teaching at universities and shows why language learning remains a deeply human task even in the digital age. Using practical examples from the SZHB, the article highlights new (strategic) requirements and changing roles for language centers, teachers, and learners.
