Help needed: people to host international participants in our summer courses

We are looking for hosts (accomodation providers) for participants in the University of Bremen’s International Summer Course. Hosts must be willing to provide a room for the period from August 3 - 28, 2026. This includes shared use of the bathroom and kitchen. You will receive financial compensation

New service at the Language Resource Center: The AI consultation hour

Not sure how to work with AI feedback when learning a language? Come to the AI consultation hour to get tips on how to use AI tools effectively, ask questions, and learn how to interpret feedback correctly. Every Tuesday from 1:00–2:00 p.m. at the SLZ.


Successful UNIcert® reaccreditation at the SZHB

As part of the reaccreditation process for the UNIcert® program, two members of the academic commission visited the SZHB. During the two-day on-site visit, they spoke with various status groups and gained insight into the language training program at the partner universities in Bremen.

The SZHB at the 2026 AKS Conference

With a plenary presentation, contributions in various sessions, and two workshops, the SZHB was well represented at the 34th conference of the Association of Language Centers at Universities (AKS), held under the theme “Languages ‘R’ Us: Core Competencies and Fields of Action.”

Languages Are Superpowers - Workshop at the Kids' University

As part of the Kids' University, about 15 kids explored their own language skills in a fun, interactive workshop hosted by the SZHB on March 26—and discovered just how much multilingualism they already possess.

Two self-study courses

Improve your academic English with complete flexibility! In the online courses “Academic English on Your Own” and “AI as Your Study Buddy,” you’ll learn how to use AI effectively and build your language skills in a targeted way, all with expert guidance. The courses start in April 2026.

Registration for language courses during the 2026 summer semester is now open. The Language Center of the Universities in the Land of Bremen (SZHB) is offering courses in over 20 languages and in various formats, so there is definitely something for everyone.
