On Monday August 3rd the Language Center of the Universities in the Land of Bremen welcomed almost 100 international students at the kick-off of the International Summer Course program for German as a Foreign Language.

The Italian Cultural Days in Bremen celebrated the 100th anniversary of Treccani with a special event at Villa Ichon. Using selected terms, Antonella Lavagno and Florian Wichert demonstrated how language has shaped Italy’s history and identity.

From late July through early October 2026, the Language Center will offer intensive courses in eight languages. Registration is open. The peer language learning on-demand advisory service (formerly the tutoring program) for independent learning will also be available during the lecture-free period.

From May 28 to June 7, 2026, Bremen celebrated all things Italian. The Language Center of the Universities in the State of Bremen (SZHB) also participated with a program focusing on language, culture, and history.

We are looking for hosts (accomodation providers) for participants in the University of Bremen’s International Summer Course. Hosts must be willing to provide a room for the period from August 3 - 28, 2026. This includes shared use of the bathroom and kitchen. You will receive financial compensation

Not sure how to work with AI feedback when learning a language? Come to the AI consultation hour to get tips on how to use AI tools effectively, ask questions, and learn how to interpret feedback correctly. Every Tuesday from 1:00–2:00 p.m. at the SLZ.

As part of the reaccreditation process for the UNIcert® program, two members of the academic commission visited the SZHB. During the two-day on-site visit, they spoke with various status groups and gained insight into the language training program at the partner universities in Bremen.

With a plenary presentation, contributions in various sessions, and two workshops, the SZHB was well represented at the 34th conference of the Association of Language Centers at Universities (AKS), held under the theme “Languages ‘R’ Us: Core Competencies and Fields of Action.”
