Teaching

Mission. Our teaching is focused on making our studentscritical thinkers and successful problem solvers. We expect our students not to take things for granted but to question them. We want our students to be able to leverage concepts from research on information technology, management, and organization in order to solve practical problems. Through the process of solving them, students are expected to recognize limits in theoretical reasoning and critically reflect on the latter. To facilitate reaching these aims, our teaching makes substantive use of action-oriented learning tools as well as eLearning. Figure 1 summarizes our teaching mission.

Digital innovations and smart services are the foundation for the management of general services in the digital age. The implementation of algorithms engrained into physical artifacts enables the emergence of „smart products“ and „smart services“. This bears consequences for the organisation since smart services can lead to changed business models, strategies, roles and practices of enacting the provision of the service in general. Secondly, these „new services“ can consist out of several service providers. Within the teaching of this course, we like to co-create with you an understanding on how these emerging potentials for the provision of digital services can generate use and positive value contributions for organisations
