We welcome around 2,500 international students every year, studying as regular students, visiting students, or students of the Preparatory Studies Program.
We offer and organize a whole host of events and programs for all international students to make their first steps at the university and their arrival in Bremen easier.
The Newcomer program is aimed at exchange students from our partner universities coming to study at the University of Bremen for one or two semesters. The Study Buddy program sees students from later semesters help first-semester international students find their way around the uni and Bremen faster. International students who complete their whole degrees at the University of Bremen can network with their German and international classmates via the kompass program and the international communities.
The Preparatory Studies Program allows prospective international students to prepare for admission to the University of Bremen.
HERE AHEAD academy offers a Preparatory Studies Program for prospective international students with and without a refugee background. Alongside language classes up to the required C1 level, the participants in the :here studies and :prime programs have access to professional preparation – directly in the intended future field of study – as well as a tailored mentoring program.
Almost 600 participants from 19 counties have already completed or are soon set to complete the program. These include Hanh Nhi Nguyen from Vietnam, Buse Gül from Turkey, Pablo Montalvan from Ecuador, and Tatiana Mensing from Peru, who give us brief insights into their countries and cultures, inviting you to experience them too.
You can get to know our participants here
