Leibniz Institute for Materials Engineering – IWT

The Leibniz-IWT conducts research into new materials, new processes, and optimized components. Our work is interdisciplinary, international, and practice-related. Our scientific concerns extend from material production, such as making powders for additive manufacturing, to the analysis of finished parts such as high-precision gears. In this way, we are creating the requirements of tomorrow.

The Leibniz-IWT is among the research facilities certified for excellence in family-friendly polic and the institute is actively pursuing equality among all groups of persons. We support the career development of women at the institute and expressly encourage them to apply.


The IWT employs about 170 people in a variety of areas. We are always looking for motivated staff.
