Universitätsmusikdirektorin Dr. Susanne Gläß

As "Universitätsmusikdirektorin" Dr. Susanne Gläß is the director of musical activities on the campus. She organises the musical life of the university for students and staff. Her responsibilities are:

  • Organising concerts in the auditorium (“Theatersaal”) of the University of Bremen

  • Directing the University of Bremen orchestra and choir

  • Organising music seminars on topics relating to the joint projects of orchestra & choir. These are specifically geared towards students of the subject areas General studies and Professional Development/Key Skills Qualification as well as to students of Cultural Studies (module M8/9).

  • Coordinating music-related activities for students of all schools and departments

  • Providing guidance for staff of the university relating to the organisation of any musical event

University Music administration: Jan-Hendrik von Stemm

Jan-Hendrik von Stemm is an administrative assistant in the area of University Music. He plans and supervises the concert series in the University’s theater hall and is responsible for the administration of University Music. All purchases and payment processes are in his hands; for example for advertising, hall rental, sheet music rental, instrument rental and transport, piano tunings and solo-voice fees. He organizes ticket sales for concerts and public relations events.

Takuya Noboru

Student Assistant: Takuya Noboru 

Takuya Noboru  has been working as a student assistant in the area of University Music since February 2019. 
He prepares the sheet music for both ensembles, collects it after the concerts, and either archives it or sends it back to the publisher. She supports advertising for the concerts, organizes the seating for choir rehearsals, and helps with the logistics of concerts.

Vocal coach: Nils Roese

Baritone Nils Roese was born in Bremen in 1956. He studied at the University for Music and the Performing Arts in Hamburg, where he graduated as Diplom-Musiklehrer für Gesang [similar to a Master’s teaching degree]. As an artist, he mainly performs lieder recitals (for example Winterreise) as well as other chanson and musical renderings.

He taught music and singing at the Hamburg Schauspielstudio, was adjunct lecturer for voice at the universities of music in Bremen and Hanover, was appointed Professor for Voice at the University of Music and Theater in Hamburg, has been retained as a voice coach by pop singers (i. a. First Love and Revolverheld). Several choirs value his services as a voice trainer. He now works as a singing teacher at music academies in Bremen and Oldenburg, and is voice trainer for the Choir of the University of Bremen since 2007.

Accompanist: Stefanie Adler

Stefanie Adler had her first piano lessons at the age of seven. From 1990 - 1997 she studied at the Musikschule Bremen under Mathias Schmidt. Stefanie Adler then went on to study music for schools at the University of Bremen, where piano was her instrument specialty (under Claudia Birkholz). Within the frame of her studies, in 1998 she began playing the oboe; here, her teacher was Gregor Daul (Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra).

In 2002 she took part as accompanist and musical assistant in a production for the Bremen Shakespeare Company of Schubert’s Winterreise directed by J. Biganzoli.
Today, Stefanie Adler teaches at an elementary school, where she is class teacher. Beside her work at school, her heart and soul is in the piano accompaniment of singers. Since 2007, Stefanie Adler is adjunct lecturer for piano accompaniment of the University of Bremen Choir.
