German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI)

DFKI at the Bremen site - Forge of intelligent technical systems

The German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), with Kaiserslautern, Saarbrücken, Bremen (with Osnabrück) as locations and a project office in Berlin is the leading research institution in Germany in the field of innovative software technologies. At the DFKI Bremen, scientists are working on the development of technologies for interactive life in the research areas Robotics Innovation Center (RIC) and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS).

Robotics Innovation Center

The Robotics Innovation Center (RIC), headed by Prof.Dr. Frank Kirchner, develops mobile robot systems that solve complex tasks under water, in space and in our everyday life. The goal is to design robots that operate autonomously and interact safely with humans, their environment and other systems. The RIC closely cooperates with the Robotics Group at the University of Bremen.

Cyber-Physical Systems

The Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) group, headed by Prof.Dr. Rolf Drechsler, has its research focus on the technical design of intelligent, networked systems – used for example in smart phones, cars and planes – in particular with regard to the safety, security and correctness of these increasingly complex systems. CPS closely cooperates with the Computer Architecture Group at the University of Bremen.
