The Day of the Dead is a holiday celebrated in Mexico on 2 November and is a combination of the Mexican pre-hispanic culture and the Catholicism during the colony. Mexicans remember their deceased relatives with altars prepared with food, drings, flowers, candles and papel picade. Join the event to make your own papel picado and cempasúchil flowers and to listen to legends ghost stories (or to tell your own stories)!

The Mayan cullture developed in the now southern region of Mexico and Central America. Although their writing sytsem was lost for centuries, its decipherment in the 1960s allowed archaeologists to uncover their history. The three events will provide an introfuction to the Mayan writing system and the Yucatecan Maya from south Mexico.
