The Industrial Decarbonization journey continues

Another stakeholder workshop in our Virtual Transformation Lab (VTL)

This time the focus was on district heating and the potential of the use of industrial waste heat to either warm or cool our houses.
On March 11 our guests were from wesernetz and our experts came from Fraunhofer IFAM, both are our partners in the hyBit project.
Once more, we made use of our interactive environment on the VTL to visualize different possible developmentns of the Bremen-West district heating network and the waste heat potentials at the industry port. The main goal was to align the perspectives of industry and research, in order to build the necessary foundation to transform complex sustainability challenges into actionable strategies together.
Thanks to everyone who made the event possible: Fraunhofer IFAM, Fraunhofer ICT, Digital Media Lab and IKEM.

The article, published on January 27, describes how the Bremen steel plant set out to produce climate-friendly steel by 2050, utilizing hdrogen-based technology. The Department for Resilient Energy Systems aims to support this process with its research.
