The hyBit closing event, organized by the FGRES team, took place at the DIGITAL HUB INDUSTRY Bremen on June 23-25, 2026. Over three days, the event brought together the hyBit partners, stakeholders, and experts for in-depth discussions, reflection, and forward-looking exchange.
The program began on Tuesday the 23rd with internal workshops across the project clusters, focusing on reviewing progress and consolidating key insights developed throughout the project.
Wednesday marked the central “hyBit Day,” welcoming stakeholders from across Bremen and Germany. Following opening remarks by Kai Stührenberg (Senatorin für Wirtschaft, Häfen und Transformation), Dr. Michal Kucera and Dr. Torben Stührmann (University of Bremen), the day continued with interactive stakeholder workshops. These sessions enabled valuable dialogue on transition pathways, challenges, and practical perspectives from industry and research. The day concluded with a podium discussion moderated by Volker Angres, where the panellists Anna Braam (Die Senatorin für Umwelt, Klima und Wissenschaft), Dr. Torben Stührmann, Alexander Malchus (EWE GASSPEICHER GmbH), and Christian Wechselbaum (DGB Bundesvorstand) shared their views on current barriers and opportunities in the transition process.
On the final day, keynote presentations by Dr. Jannika Mattes and Lea Schnackenberg (Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg), and Dr. Stefan Lechtenböhmer (University of Kassel) provided broader perspectives on industrial transformation, followed by a closing podium discussion with the keynote speakers and the cluster leads.
While the hyBit project is coming to an end, the journey toward industrial decarbonisation continues.
