Central Research Development Fund

The University of Bremen’s Central Research Development Fund (CRDF) supports researchers on all stages of their scientific career. A special focus is put on profile building, promotion of early career researchers, and preparation of research grant applications.


U Bremen Research Alliance Conferences

In order to promote the growth of joint research projects located at the interfaces of the member institutions, the U Bremen Research Alliance announces the funding of up to three U Bremen Research Alliance research conferences in 2018 and 2019. The conferences can each be funded with a maximum of 10,000 euros. Closing date for applications: 01.03.2019 (funding decision in April 2019)



BremenIDEA supports the internationalisation of the doctoral phase with a variety of measures. Doctoral researchers from the University of Bremen can apply for one to three months stays at a university or research institution abroad. For professors, BremenIDEA offers the opportunity to invite Master's students or prospective PhD candidates students from abroad to Bremen for a short stay or an internship.



PhD-Networks in the Humanities

The University of Bremen launched a program to support PhD researchers in the humanities. The goal is to encourage exchange and scientific network building. Currently, there is no open call.


"Impuls Forschung" - Start-up Funding for VNU Association Research

Under the new format “Impuls Forschung”, the Association of North German Universities (German: Verband Norddeutscher Universitäten - abbr. VNU) financially supports the initiation, consolidation and expansion of research cooperation amongst its member universities. The granted funds of up to €5,000 per application are to be used for exchanging ideas, preparing cooperation projects and applying for joint projects. The programme is addressed at Ph.D. graduates from all VNU universities (Bremen, Greifswald, Groningen, Hamburg, Kiel, Lübeck, Lüneburg, Oldenburg, Rostock). Applications are possible at any time.



YERUN - Research Mobility Award: Call opens 24 September

The University of Bremen is a member of  YERUN, a  network of highly-ranked, young research universities in Europe. The founding goals of the Network are to strengthen and develop cooperation in the areas of research, academic education and service to society. Las year, YERUN launched its first Research Mobility Award to increase joint research collaborations among its members. The 2018 call for applications opens on 24 September 2018 and closes on 26 October 2018. For more information on the current call, get in touch with Julia Sievers.
