Scholarships

The Faculties of the University are able to award doctoral and research scholarships. Unit 12 advises on general questions and draws up the notification of approval.

Please first clarify the funding source of your scholarship before you apply for the scholarship at Unit 12 - Scholarships.

The info leaflets (available on the German version of this website) are for your information in advance of the application and are part of the approval notice.

Please complete the declaration and have it signed by the responsible university professor / Faculty member. Please note that the responsible Faculty administration needs a print-out of your application in order to be able to sign it. You send the signed form by (house) mail to Unit 12 - Scholarships.

Upload all required documents in PDF format and complete the application form on the German version of this website. Once you have uploaded the application and the required documents, you will receive confirmation by email. The notification of approval will be sent to your postal address.

Doctoral scholarships

… are usually awarded for three years. Applications should be submitted to Unit 12 at least six weeks before the start of funding.

Completion grants

Doctoral candidates who have been on a scholarship or who have been employed on a doctoral position may apply for a completion grant if, for scientific or private reasons, they are unable to complete their doctorate within the planned period of their contract or scholarship. Applications should be submitted to Unit 12 at least six weeks before the start of the completion grant.

Research grants

… can be awarded to qualified researchers from abroad working on research projects with a defined duration. The application should be submitted to Unit 12 at least six weeks before the start of funding.

Child Allowance

If the scholarship recipient has a child (or children), he or she can apply for an additional child allowance.
