UNIcert® II (B2)
With the UNIcert® II certificate, you demonstrate language proficiency at the B2 level, which means you
- have the language skills needed for studying and working in the target language
- can communicate spontaneously, grammatically correct and appropriately
- can understand complex texts, organize information, and present it in a nuanced way
- can express yourself in spoken and written form on specialized and cultural topics, and switch flexibly between languages

If your placement test result is B 1.2, you should take this course. - Academic English B 2.2
If your placement test result is B 2.1, you should take this course.
The Academic English track comprises two courses:
- Academic English Listening and Speaking B 2.3
- Academic English Reading and Writing B 2.3
To receive the Certificate UNIcert® II exam, you must successfully complete both courses listed above.
The Technical English track comprises two courses:
- Technical English Listening and Speaking B 2.3
- Technical English Reading and Writing B 2.3
To receive the Certificate UNIcert® II exam, you must successfully complete both courses listed above.

Recognition of UNIcert® II as proof of language proficiency at the B2 level
The UNIcert® II certificate is recognized as proof of B2 language proficiency for admission to bachelor’s and master’s degree programs at universities in the state of Bremen.
All UNIcert-accredited institutions and many other institutions also recognize UNIcert certificates.
Placement testing and cross-entry
If you can already demonstrate proficiency at the B2.1 or B2.2 level, you may enroll in the next higher level course in the program. If you are taking only the highest-level courses (i.e., the two B2.3 courses), you must pass all course components to receive a certificate.

Registration fees
With regard to costs:
The fee for issuing the certificate is 5 euros.
It is also possible to receive a refund of course fees if you spend a semester or complete an internship abroad.

Your Path to Certification - an Overview
1. UNIcert® II consists of four courses that must be completed and passed. You must complete both B2.3 level courses and pass all the components in the corresponding module exams.
2. It is possible to enter the program at a later stage (see the blue box); however, in all cases, you must complete both B2.3 level courses in one domain at the SZHB.
3. Note: All UNIcert® courses require a minimum attendance rate of 80 percent.
4. The UNIcert® certificate can be requested after successfully completing the two domain-specific courses (B2.3).
