For the professional goal of teaching at grammar schools and secondary schools, you study two subjects in the consecutive Bachelor / Master structure:

  1. Two-subject Bachelor with teaching option
      6 semesters, 180 CP , standard period of study 3 years
     
  2. Master of Education High School (from winter semester 2014/15)
      4 semesters, 120 CP , standard period of study 2 years

Teacher Education for secondary schools (high schools )

You study two subjects to the same extent. At least one of them must be a compulsory subject. As a second subject you can choose one of the other compulsory subjects or an elective.

Program Profile

The two-subject bachelor's degree program with teaching option is polyvalent, i.e. graduates are not solely trained for the teaching profession and also have access to other non-school occupational fields or master's programs. The focus of the bachelor's degree is two-thirds on the subject sciences of the two subjects. The teacher training share with subject didactics, pedagogy and school internships is 26%.

In contrast, in the Master of Education for secondary schools (Gymnasien/Oberschulen), the focus, with a share of 80%, is clearly on the teaching profession.
