At the end of the workshop, you will have the opportunity to get feedback on your resume.

The information you’ll learn in the workshop can help you with writing a resume for a student job, practicum, or full-time position.

You just graduated and are wondering: what’s next? For many people, starting your professional career begins with temporary freelance projects and solo self-employment. This comes with a lot of uncertainty and paperwork.

• What do I have to do?
• What about bureaucracy and accounting responsibilities?
• What do social security contributions cost and where do I have to pay the contributions?
• What about health insurance?
• How do I declare my income as a freelancer to the tax office?

Many new freelancers feel overwhelmed by all of this.

Enter: The Smart Cooperative.

Smart offers social security protection for freelancers by turning them into employees of the cooperative. Through the status of employees, Smart provides security for their freelance work activity. Freelancers process their projects (such as teaching assignments or project management) via the cooperative: Smart invoices their clients, and the cooperative’s members are employed by Smart. As employees, they get access to the complete social security package, including access to public health insurance, and paying into unemployment insurance. They also receive continued payment of their salary in case of illness and have accident insurance. Income tax is automatically deducted as payroll tax (Lohnsteuer) as well. This gives members more time to focus on the work itself, without having to worry too much about the paperwork. The cooperative takes care of contracting, invoicing, and sending payment reminders to the members’ clients. And by the way, Smart was recently named “Berlin’s Social Enterprise” of the year!
