Beschreibung:
Im Rahmen dieses Projektes durchlaufen Sie mit Ihrem Team die Phasen C und D eines Raumfahrtprojektes. Es wird eine Realisierung des Projektes im Rahmen von verschiedenen Studenten Programmen auf einer Zentrifuge oder im Fallturm angestrebt.

Ihre Aufgaben sind:

- Verfeinerung eines Sciencecases mit Studierenden der Physik (Kontakt wird vermittelt)
- Update eines Anforderungskataloges für erfolgreiche Experimente
- Erstellen eines Projektzeitplans, Einführen von Methoden zur Fortschrittskontrolle, Einführung in die Nutzung von SCRUM® als Projektmanagementtool
- Optimierung und Finalisierung eines mechanischen und thermischen Designs für die Payload
- Erstellen eines Zeit- und Kostenplans für die Realisierung des Designs
- Integration, Verifikation und Test der Hardware
- Ggf. Inbetriebnahme der Nutzlast
- Ggf. Flug auf einer Höhenforschungsrakete oder Verifikation im Fallturm

Die Nutzlast soll auch nach dem Projekt weiterentwickelt werden und auch Studierenden der Physik als Plattform für Experimente mit kalten Atomen unter Schwerelosigkeit dienen.

As part of the DLR STERN programme the student sounding rocket ZEpHyR 2 will be developed and built at ZARM. The ZEpHyR 2 is a hybrid rocket, which utilises paraffin (candle wax) and liquid oxygen.
The existing preliminary design of the ZEpHyR 2 shall be revised, especially with regard to the total mass and aerodynamics. For this purpose detailed concepts for the structure, the tank and pressure system as well as the aerodynamics are to be developed.

Im Rahmen des DLR STERN-Programmes soll am ZARM die studentische Rakete ZEpHyR 2 entwickelt und gebaut werden. Bei der ZEpHyR 2 handelt es sich um eine Hybridrakete, die mit einer Kombination aus Paraffin (Kerzenwachs) und flüssigem Sauerstoff angetrieben werden soll.

Die bestehende Vorauslegung der ZEpHyR 2 soll vor allem hinsichtlich der Gesamtmasse und der Aerodynamik überarbeitet werden. Zu diesem Zweck sollen detaillierte Konzepte für die Struktur, das Tank- und Drucksystem sowie die Aerodynamik erarbeitet werden.

In order to test and verify the new hybrid motor of the ZEpHyR 2 three test campaigns have to be carried out at the DLR Lampoldshausen. These campaigns are to be planned and prepared as part of the project. This includes, for example, the preparation of the test infrastructure, adaptation of the test software, material procurement and logistics. It may also be possible to be part of one or more campaigns.

Im Rahmen des DLR STERN-Programmes soll am ZARM die studentische Rakete ZEpHyR 2 entwickelt und gebaut werden. Bei der ZEpHyR 2 handelt es sich um eine Hybridrakete, die mit einer Kombination aus Paraffin (Kerzenwachs) und flüssigem Sauerstoff angetrieben werden soll.
Das für die ZEpHyR 2 neu entwickelte Hybridtriebwerk soll mit Hilfe von mehreren Testkampagnen beim DLR Lampoldshausen getestet und verifiziert werden. Die Testkampagnen sollen im Rahmen des Projektes geplant und vorbereitet werden. Dieses umfasst z.B. die Bereiche Vorbereitung der Testinfrastruktur, Anpassung der Testsoftware, Materialbeschaffung und Logistik. Ggf. ist auch die Durchführung einer oder mehrerer Kampagnen denkbar.

In order to recover the ZEpHyR 2 safely after its flight from ESRANGE, a two-stage parachute system is needed. This has already been conceptually developed and designed as a part of a bachelor thesis. Taking the latest technical data of the ZEpHyR 2 into account a detailed design of the recovery system and the ejection mechanism shall be developed and constructed. In addition, necessary tests for qualification and determination of the parachute characteristics must be defined and carried out.

As part of the DLR STERN programme the student sounding rocket ZEpHyR 2 will be developed and built at ZARM. The ZEpHyR 2 is a hybrid rocket, which utilises paraffin (candle wax) and liquid oxygen.
At ZARM’s motor test stand several test campaigns with hybrid rocket motors of different performance shall be performed to investigate scaling effects and different operating states. These findings will be used for the further development of the new ZEpHyR 2 main engine with 6.5 kN thrust.

Diese Erkenntnisse sollen für die Weiterentwicklung des neuen ZEpHyR 2-Haupttriebwerks mit 6,5 kN Schub genutzt werden.
