Bremer Studienfonds

Funding for worldwide internships

The program

The Bremer Studienfonds, with the support of the Nolting-Hauff Foundation, supports stays abroad by particularly qualified students and graduates of Bremen's universities and colleges. The aim of the funding is in particular the personal and professional further qualification of the candidates within the framework of a stay abroad with a maximum duration of 6 months.
Graduates are only eligible to apply if they begin the stay abroad within three months of completing their studies.

Who can apply?
Students, graduates, and Phd-students of the University of Bremen and the other Bremen universities can apply. The central application requirement is that the reason of the stay abroad should be to further vocational qualification. Internships are therefore particularly suitable.
Graduates can only apply if they start their stay abroad within 3 months after graduation.

What is funded?
Stays abroad by highly qualified students and graduates of the University of Bremen and the other Bremen universities up to a maximum of 6 months. This excludes exchanges / internships that are mandatory in the study or examination regulations, pure study units or study-bound projects, and thesis or pure research stays without qualifying character.

Support is provided for stays abroad by particularly qualified students and graduates of the University of Bremen and the other Bremen universities up to a maximum duration of 6 months. Excluded from funding are stays/internships that are a mandatory part of examination regulations, as well as pure study components, study-related projects, theses projects, or pure research stays without a professional qualification character.

The stay may only begin once the foundation has made a decision - this is usually 4 weeks after the application deadline.

What does the funding entail?
A one-time grant will be awarded, and the amount is determined by the project requirements and the planned budget of the candidates.

Where and when can I apply?
You can apply for financial aid from the Bremer Studienfonds twice a year. The application deadlines are January 15 or June 15. The application must be sent to the International Office.
