Study – and then?

Granted: The final decision about what to do after graduation can only be made once your exams are over. Nevertheless, it makes sense to know something about the options open to you beforehand, e.g. for setting the focus for completion of your studies. The University of Bremen supports you wherever it can, regardless of whether you take a master's degree directly after completing your bachelor's degree, start an internship at home or abroad, find a suitable position, set yourself up in business or launch an academic career with a doctorate. You will receive advice and information from the Practice Offices in the Faculties, the Career Center, in the Mentoring Program “Focus on Career Entry” as well as in BYRD doctorate center. Further training is offered by the Academy for Continuing Education, and maintaining contact is best done in the alumni network Community Bremen.

Fit for the job

With the counselor of the Career Center , you can discuss your professional interests and labor market perspectives in personal counseling sessions and discuss individual qualification goals. Event offerings for job-relevant extra-proficiency skills, which you can use to prepare yourself for the requirements of professional practice at an early stage, can be found in the Online Event Directory under Interdisciplinary Study Programs and Under Events on the Career Center pages .

 

Internship & Job

You want or need to have work? Preferably something that advances your studies or at least doesn’t interfere with them? Are you looking for a job or a company where you can write your thesis? Everything can be found in the job and application portal. And at the annually held Praxisbörse you can even get into personal contact with companies.

Further Education

You would like to continue your education after your studies or during your farming activity? The Academy for Continuing Education of the University of Bremen offers a variety of opportunities for further learning: individual modules on current topics, seminars and continuing education courses with certificate completion, guest program and part-time master's programs. The new Life module allows students to take part in modules from regular teaching, taking exams and earn credit points.

Welcome in Bremen

"Bremen needs all its brains" is a program of the state of Bremen, with which foreign graduates are supported in finding work in Bremen. The University of Bremen also supports and accompanies this with its own services as the Welcome Center for International Scholars and the "Mind the Gap" project for international students in the final phase of their studies. Advice on practical orientation and career entry is available at the Career Center.

Master's Degree

The University of Bremen offers more than 50 different master's programs, 15 of which are delivered in English and another 20 or so in other foreign languages. The proportion of international students is just as high as the proximity to various research groups. The study centers provide advice and information on the subject-specific content.

No, the Alumni Network is not just about relating experiences from the past. Rather, an opportunity for former students to get together again (Alumnus = Latin for “former pupil”) and exchange contacts, experiences and views of their current (professional) world. Information events, visits to companies, celebrations, expert discussions and discourse with members of the University’s leadership or prominent members of Bremen Society are part of the program.
