The University of Bremen in social networks

The University of Bremen is active in several social networks in order to communicate with students, employees and the public. Currently, the University presents itself to the public on four platforms: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram. These central accounts are recognizable by the name “Universität Bremen”. They are maintained by the Press Office of the University and aimed at broad target groups. In addition, there are accounts that are aimed at specific target groups. Apart from the name “University of Bremen”, these bear an additional reference; for example, “study orientation University of Bremen”. These include i.a. Facebook pages and groups of individual programs or the Twitter accounts of research groups. These accounts are maintained by the respective areas.

All members of the University can take advantage of advisory and training offers with regard to using the social media. The Press Office will be happy to provide assistance in the planning and setting up of accounts and also trains employees in using such media.

Information for University members

Employees of the University of Bremen can use social media for the external communication of their areas. The Press Office offers support in selecting, designing and implementing suitable activities There are also training offers on the use of social media for members of the University who have already been trained in planning and design. More information can be found in the internal section.

 

Notes on data privacy

The Press Office manages the University of Bremen’s content on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and Google+. At no time does it store personal data of the fans, unless it is required, for example, for a raffle or similar. In this case, conditions of participation must be made known and the person’s permission must be previously given. Shared content such as comments, pictures or videos will never be used or shared for any other purpose without obtaining prior consent. When using excerpts, for example, for internal training purposes, the authors are rendered anonymous.

The press office of the University of Bremen as the manager of the University’s social media presence has no influence on the processing of your data by the respective provider. It cannot be ruled out that the providers evaluate user data and / or pass it on to third parties. Only use the platforms if you are fully aware of these effects and are prepared to accept the risks mentioned.
