HERE’S WHY – Gröpelingen is a multinational neighborhood and a place where people have dreams in 120 different languages. In Gröpelingen, we say that “participation creates perspectives”. It is impossible for there to be “too many cooks in the kitchen”. We are interested in how we can overcome barriers that discourage people from getting socially or artistically involved, from exploring creative potential regardless of age, background, or gender; and from taking a stand for their neighborhood and themselves. Professor Johannes Beck, a co-founder of the University of Bremen, always said that neighborhoods provide an education. We learn here every day.

They are running a seminar that works with students to develop and implement a program for the “Global Neighborhoods” open-air theater in summer 2021.
