"Science communication is more than 'nice-to-have'. It directly contributes to strengthening trust in science."

What does a "science communicator" actually do? Dr Julia Gantenberg, who has been working at the Centre for Work and Politics since 2017, makes scientific research topics understandable and accessible to people outside the university.
To do this, she designs different formats, supports scientists and uses her diverse networks to exchange new ideas and plans with her colleagues. This gives her insights into a wide range of research topics and brings her into dialogue with many people inside and outside the university who develop new things with her. What she particularly appreciates about the University of Bremen is the open, friendly and cooperative interaction that takes place at all levels: in research, at the management and administrative level, as well as between the different departments.

As she is currently leading an exciting Citizen Science project, she hopes that in 50 years' time it will be part of the University of Bremen's self-image to see itself as a citizens' university that not only conducts research for, but also in exchange with social actors.
