"I am committed to ensuring that computing equipment is repaired and used for as long as possible."

The printer is on strike? The copier is showing incomprehensible messages? Administrative staff at the University of Bremen don't despair, but reach for the phone: their salvation is called UweSchenk. When he enters the office, you know he won't leave until he has found a (often creative) solution to the problem. How does he manage that? After all, the team of Department 50 looks after several hundred administrative employees...- with a lot of composure, humour and clear ideas about priorities (which, of course, not everyone always shares). UweSchenk stands for his convictions, and that's why he hopes that in 50 years' time it will no longer be a contradiction for the University of Bremen to expand its IT better and still be economical and sustainable.
50 years ago, Uwe was an apprentice in a locksmith's shop, then a committed biker (his St. Nicholas tours through the city centre in the middle of a throng of Christmas-decorated motorbikes are famous). He is a multi-talent: he parks lorries backwards with his little finger in even the tiniest parking space, can set up a complete telephone and internet system on an empty field in no time (as part of his voluntary work for the THW), is passionate about repairing everything that others want to throw away, and in his free time he loves to be out in nature with his family: camping, cycling or walking.
