The Institute for Artificial Intelligence of the University of Bremen, headed by Prof. Dr. Michael Beetz, is one of the internationally leading research organizations in the field of autonomous robotics and is engaged in worldwide cooperation with other research institutions in that field. Our team of scientists, researchers, and students investigates the development of intelligent assistance robots to support elderly and disabled people especially facing demographic change.

At the earliest possible date the Institute calls for applications under the condition of job release – a position in the BMBF-funded Research Project IntEL4CoRo as:

Research Assistant (f/m/d)

Salary scale TV-L 13, full time (39,2 hours per week) until 31st May 2025.

Job description

  • Development, construction and operation of infrastructure in learning- and teaching environment
  • Implementation and integration into the server structure of the University of Bremen and integration of software architecture into the tools of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence
  • Participation in developing and evaluating teaching- and learning materials
  • Participation in measures in public relations 


  • Successfully completed scientific university education (diploma or master’s degree) in computer science or comparable
  • Experience in application of web technologies (Flask, Django etc.) combined with complex backends with container technology
  • Experience in:
  • GPU- and docker workloads

    ROS and robotic software infrastructures

    Experience with Hadoop (and ideally knowledge in openEASE)

  • Preferable: Experience in one or more of the following languages: C++, Python. Prolog, OWL, Java
  • Preferable: Experience in 3D-Visualisations in Webbrowsers
  • Ability to communicate proficiently in German and English in written and spoken form (minimum Level C1 CEF)
  • High level of flexibility and team spirit, collaborative approach
