Anastasios Stefanou – Faculty of Mathematics / Computer Science

In October 2021, Anastasios Stefanou took on the role of Assistant Professor of Mathematical Foundations of Data Analysis at the ALTA Institute within the Faculty of Mathematics / Computer Science at the University of Bremen.

Prior to this, he studied mathematics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) and completed his PhD at University at Albany, New York. He subsequently worked as a post-doctoral researcher in the TGDA@OSU group and the Mathematical Biosciences Institute at Ohio State University, and then as a visiting assistant professor at the Dioscuri Centre at the Polish Academy of Sciences.  Anastasios Stefanou works in the area of topological data analysis (TDA), which is a new approach to the analysis of data using techniques from topology. His research focuses on the mathematical foundations of TDA. He is also interested in importing TDA methods to mathematical biology and dynamic systems.
