Around 250 musicians and singers will take to the stage alongside international soloists. They will be conducted by University Music Director (UMD) Mariano Chiacchiarini, with direction by Ansgar Weigner, professor of stage design at the University of the Arts Bremen. Tickets start at 14 euros (7 euros for concessions) and are available from NordwestTicket, Eventim, and at the university campus dining hall (Mensa) on the boulevard from June 24 through 26.

“Cavalleria rusticana” by Pietro Mascagni, which premiered in 1890, is one of the best-known works of Italian Verismo – an operatic genre that brings the lives of ordinary people, with all their conflicts and passions, to the stage in a realistic and vivid way. The story is set in a Sicilian village and tells the tale of Turiddu, whose secret relationship with his former lover Lola sets off a chain of jealousy, wounded pride, and revenge.
