More than 250 youth from grades 5 to 10 took part in the event, held at the end of April by the Center of Excellence Women in Sciences and Technology at UniTransfer. Participants chose from 28 hands-on activities across the university campus, including making cutting boards in the Wood Technology Workshop, building electric motors at the Institute for Electrical Drives, Power Electronics, and Devices, and experiencing microgravity simulations in the Drop Tower at ZARM – Center of Applied Space Technology and Microgravity.
They also explored teaching careers in early childhood and primary education through the Faculty of Pedagogy and Educational Sciences, and performed experiments in the Laboratory for Molecular Diabetology to understand how diabetes develops.
In between activities, participants experienced campus life firsthand – including a visit to the university campus dining hall (Mensa), made possible for all school students by Studierendenwerk Bremen.
