The pilot project addresses students from the ten YUFE partner universities, which include the University of Bremen. The Diploma Supplement Track enables students to study at all ten YUFE partner universities. It is a further step of the alliance towards a European University.
Students can create their own curriculum and choose from academic courses offered by all YUFE partner universities in the YUFE course catalogue. The YUFE Alliance has specially designed a "Virtual Campus" for this purpose. This is a virtual learning platform, the first part of which was recently launched with the "Student Portal". In the long term, it should become a virtual platform for all YUFE target groups: students, university employees and citizens. The "Virtual Campus" was created with the support of KIRON - one of YUFE 's non-academic partners.
Few university places available on short notice
To ensure good organization during the pilot phase, the number of participants in the first run is limited to 100 students. This means that each of the ten partner universities can only award ten places, which will be selected from the first 40 applications. Applications must also include a letter of motivation. The application period begins on Monday, November 30, 2020, at 9:00 CET and ends one week later on Sunday, December 6, 2020, at 23:59 CET. All applications need be uploaded to the newly established "Virtual Campus".
After the one-week application deadline has expired, a selection committee will select the final group of students based on their suitability and motivation. The committee composed of representatives of all YUFE universities..
What does the study program actually look like?
The YUFE Diploma Supplement Track comprises a maximum study period of two years. During this period, at least twelve credits (ECTS) must be earned for academic courses at another YUFE University. This can be done virtually, hybrid and/or with physical presence. In addition, students must attend introductory courses and at least three lectures at the YUFE Academy. This is an English-language lecture series offered by the ten YUFE Universities, which offers a variety of online courses. The focus is on the topics of European identity and responsibility in a global world. The YUFE Academy started for the first time at the end of October 2020.
In addition to the achievements from academic courses, the Diploma Supplement Track also requires the acquisition of so-called YUFE Stars. This is because it is important for the Alliance to recognize not only academic achievements, but also commitment in the areas of mobility, language learning, vocational training, job shadowing and volunteer work in the region.
YUFE takes Europe to you
"The YUFE Alliance is testing an innovative model of a European University to offer students more flexible curricula, individual learning paths and seamless mobility between academic disciplines, programs, universities and countries," says Dr. Daniela Trani, Director of the YUFE Alliance. "At a time when the COVID 19 pandemic is hampering physical mobility, YUFEbrings international education to our students and learners at home through the 'Virtual Campus'".
