Prof. Dr. Krasimira Aleksandrova – Faculty of Human and Health Sciences

Krasimira Aleksandrova has been a professor of methods in molecular epidemiology since January. She is also the deputy head of the Department of Epidemiological Methods and Etiological Research at the Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology – BIPS.

She studied at the Medical University Varna in Bulgaria and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Israel. After completing her doctoral studies in the field of medicine and the health sector in 2009, she moved to the Department of Molecular Epidemiology at the German Institute of Human Nutrition Potsdam-Rehbruecke and worked there until 2020. Aleksandrova completed her habilitation phase in the field of epidemiology at the University of Potsdam. Her main research interests are molecular epidemiology, chronic illnesses, and the role of nutrition, lifestyle, and metabolism as modifiable health factors.
