Lecture Series on Goals for Sustainable Development Begins

The artec Sustainability Research Center will start a lecture series on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, on the topic “Goals for sustainable development: ambivalences of a global agenda.”

Starting in the summer semester of 2019, speakers from the University of Bremen and other research institutions will discuss Agenda 2030. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are United Nations policy objectives designed to ensure sustainable development at the economic, social, and environmental levels. All nations should take equal responsibility for them. But what exactly are the individual goals? Which problems are identified in them? Which solutions have been drafted? And what is the relationship between the goals? These are the topics of the lecture series.

An introductory event to the series of events will take place on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the rotunda of the Cartesium building of the University of Bremen. The objectives of the agenda are viewed from the perspective of science and politics. The four subsequent lectures will take place at the Haus der Wissenschaft, Sandstrasse 4/5.
