Informatica Feminale is open to female students of all disciplines, women in the workforce, and women interested in computer science, digitalization, and artificial intelligence. As an international summer school, Informatica Feminale brings together participants from Germany and abroad. Female university lecturers from academia, research, and industry design the courses, enabling participants to engage with experienced women in computer science from both academia and the professional world. On campus, participants can expect a program featuring 38 workshops and courses, as well as a variety of supporting events and excursions. These include trips to Airbus Bremen, ArcelorMittal Bremen, the Bremen waste-to-energy plant, and the Seehausen wastewater treatment plant. Numerous research institutes and centers will also open their doors, including the Center of Applied Space Technology and Microgravity (ZARM), the Fabrication Laboratory (FabLab), the Fibre Institute Bremen (FIBRE), the Leibniz Institute for Materials Engineering (IWT), and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). The program also includes lunch talks and networking events with female experts from academia and industry, as well as joint cultural and recreational activities and a wide range of opportunities for exchange and networking. Free childcare is also available.
Informatica Feminale 2026 is organized by Professor Nicole Megow and a team from the Faculty of Mathematics/Computer Science at the University of Bremen. The event relies on the dedication of many faculty members, including Dean of Students Dr. Thomas Barkowsky and Diversity Officer Professor Sebastian Siebertz. The summer school is supported by UniTransfer and the Center of Excellence for Women in Natural Sciences and Technology ("Kompetenzzentrum Frauen in Naturwissenschaft und Technik").
