The possibilities for successful transfer project are numerous, and include a student project group that conducted research on a socially relevant topic at a welfare organization and developed and implemented recommendations for action, as well as an institute partnering with a company to develop a digital prototype.
Accordingly, members from all status groups of the university are eligible to apply for the awards. Those interested can submit an application form at https://www.uni-bremen.de/en/cooperation/industry-liaison/transfer-award-at-the-university-of-bremen by May 31, where they can describe their transfer activity and upload related materials.
What transfer activities can be submitted?
All activities that align with the University of Bremen’s transfer strategy are eligible. Examples include initiatives or projects that
- communicate research results to the public in innovative ways,
- involve members of society in the design of research process,
- focus on the practical application of teaching content,
- implement social or technical innovations in society, or
- strengthen cooperation between business and science.
Activities that are ongoing or were completed within the last two years are eligible for the Transfer Award. There must already be a verifiable output – in other words, a practical application must have already taken place. Projects that are still in the planning phase are excluded from participation.
Submitted activities can be regional, national, or international in scope. They must also be carried out in cooperation with at least one external institution or partner from society, culture, education, politics, or business, or be aimed at a clearly defined external target group.
A jury of transfer experts from within and outside the university will decide on the award. The 2026 Transfer Award will be presented in a festive ceremony on October 27, 2026 in the Banking Hall at the Forum at Domshof.
