For more than 30 years, the Centre for Labor and Political Education (zap) at the University of Bremen has been successfully hosting the “two-year course”. This part-time continuing education degree, which is one of a kind across Germany, offers adults the opportunity to acquire social science education foundations and get to know and develop courses of action for sociopolitical situations in many areas of life. The lectures take place once a week in the evening, on several Saturdays and during three weeks of educational leave.
Acquisition of a Restricted Higher Education Entrance Qualification Possible
This offer of political education is generally open to any interested persons. If certain conditions are met, the participants can acquire a certificate, which allows them to study for varying degrees at the University of Bremen and the Bremen City University of Applied Sciences. The requirement for the acquisition of said certificate is a successfully completed vocational apprenticeship or at least five years of professional experience (parental leave, unemployment, military service and civilian service are included for up to one of the five years). Participants are required to pay a course fee of 700 euros. Discounts for eligible parties (unemployed persons) may be given.
Two Information Evenings
Teaching staff will provide more information about the course contents, the time needed and the requirements for the acquisition of a certificate, which includes a subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, at two information evenings: Thursday, August 22, and Thursday, September 5, 2019, at 6 p.m. at the Centre for Labor and Political Education, University of Bremen, Celsiusstr. 2, 28359 Bremen (Forschungsverfügungsgebäude [General Purpose research Building], central wing entrance, room 0090).
