Member of ZeMKI-Lab "Mediatization and Globalization"
From July 2017 until the end of January 2022, Susan Benz (born Alpen) was a research associate at the Centre for Media, Communication and Information Research (ZeMKI) at the University of Bremen. She finished her master studies in communication and cultural management at Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen in 2015 by dedicating her thesis to the topic of „media, public sphere and society between fragmentation and integration“. She was then research assistant within an international project funded by the CBHE Erasmus + program of the European Union „Media Literacy as a Media Competence Program for Social Change“. The project derived from a cooperation between six universities from Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam, as well as the University of Vienna and the Open University of the Netherlands. In close collaboration with the partner universities she worked from April 2016 until July 2017 on a two-wave Delphi study, conducted in Southeast Asia. The study was the empirical basis for a massive open online course serving to enhance media literacy education in Southeast Asia.
