Florian Hohmann started working at ZeMKI in September 2018 for the DFG project „The sustainable provision of software for cross-media practices and digital traces research". He studied communication research at the University in Erfurt from 2005 to 2008. After a year of parental leave he got his Masters degree in Children’s and Youth Media Studies from the same university. He wrote his master thesis on the use of gamified applications in everyday life exemplified by the location-based service “Foursquare”.
From November 2012 until end of October 2013 he worked as a research assistant at IMK (Institute for media and communication) at Hamburg University. From October 2013 until September 2018 he was a research assistant at IJK (Institute for journalism and communications) also at Hamburg University. For his dissertation project he analyzes the journalistic potential of newsgames.
