Vita

Christian Pentzold is Associate Professor of Media and Communication Studies with a focus on Media Society at ZeMKI, Centre for Media, Communication and Information Sciences. Prior to joining the University of Bremen in 2016, he was a lecturer at Technische Universität Chemnitz. He has studied media and communication at Chemnitz and at the University of Stirling. Funded by the German National Academic Foundation (Studienstiftung) his doctoral research looked at practices and institutions of successful online communication and cooperation. In 2009, he was an EPSRC-funded doctoral visitor to the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford. Since 2012 Christian has been an Associate Researcher at the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet & Society, Berlin and in the academic year 2015 he was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Department of Culture, Media & Creative Industries, King’s College London. He spent spring 2018 at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem.
