Job advertisement for a research assistant in the ZeMKI Lab "Sociotechnical Systems and Critical Data Studies" of Prof. Dr. Andreas Breiter

To work on his research projects, Andreas Breiter is looking for a research assistant for his ZeMKI-Lab/at the Institute for Information Management Bremen to start on 15.11.2023:

Research Assistant in the fields of Computer Science and/or Computational Social Science (100%).

The position is initially limited to three years, an extension is possible and desired. A doctorate at Faculty 3 of the University of Bremen is possible and also desired. Remuneration is according to TV-L E13. The classification depends on previous experience.

The aim of our current project is to understand how social movements use social media and how to better adapt them to the needs of the movements. To do this, we are developing and evaluating software in an interdisciplinary team. In the project we work closely with members from different social movements like the environmental movement.

You bring with you:

  • Relevant university degree (Master) e.g. in computer science, computational social science, media informatics, human-computer interaction, digital media, or a related field.
  • Programming skills in at least one object-oriented programming language such as Python, Ruby, Java or equivalent.
  • Experience in participative software development as well as in the development of mobile apps and/or web applications would also be desirable.
  • German C1 certificate for non-native speakers
