At the beginning of November 2023, the members of the Temporary Working Group will meet at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University to discuss current empirical projects and theoretical approaches to media sport, sports communication, mediatisation, automation and datafication under the umbrella topic of "Sports Communication in Transition".
The conference will be organised on site by Prof. Dr. Alice Němcová Tejkalová, Dr. Veronika Macková, Dr. Kateřina Turková and Anna Hrbáčková. The TWG management team consists of Prof. Dr Kirsten Frandsen (Aarhus University), JProf. Dr Daniel Nölleke (DSHS Cologne), Dr Xavier Ramon-Vegas (Universitat Pompeu Fabra) and ZeMKI member Dr Philip Sinner.
The conference is the largest event on research in the field of media sport and sports communication in Europe. ZeMKI member Dr Philip Sinner is represented there with three presentations:
- Dr Philip Sinner & Niels Bibert: (Online) Sports Betting - A Plea for Inclusion in Sports Communication Research.
- Prof. Dr. Sascha Trültzsch-Wijnen (University of Salzburg) & Dr Philip Sinner: (Self-)Presentations of Austrian and German Winter Sport Athletes in Social Media: Sport, Advertising and Sexualisation? Transitions and Continuities 2010, 2017 and 2022.
- Niels Bibert, Jiamin Li (Zheijiang University) & Dr Philip Sinner: Exploring the Consumption of Sports Livestreams Through Online Betting Platforms.
Two of the lectures were organised in collaboration with Niels Bibert, a PhD student at the KU Leuven, project collaborator at Hasselt University (Belgium) and member of the Communicative Figurations Network.
