The series consists of three modules that specifically address different phases and challenges in the scientific work process: from brainstorming, research and analysis to the networking of scientific literature.
Each module focuses on specific tools that are presented and tested in practical sessions. The modules can be taken independently of each other.
By participating in this series of events, participants not only acquire practical skills in dealing with AI applications, but also a critical understanding of their possible uses and limitations in a scientific context.
Module 1: Discovery phase / assistance
Tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot or Duck.ai help with finding topics, formulating research questions and getting started with the research process. They provide suggestions and orientation to facilitate the start of a scientific paper.
Dates offered:
- Monday, 28.04.2025, 10-11 am (Link to Stud.IP)
- Tuesday, 27.05.2025, 2-15 pm (lLink to Stud.IP)
Module 2: Research
Tools such as Perplexity and Semantic Scholar are AI-supported applications that search large databases for relevant literature. They help to find current scientific articles on a topic and often offer additional functions.
Dates offered:
- Monday, 05.05.2025, 10-11 am (Link to Stud.IP)
- Tuesday, 03.06.2025, 2-15 pm (Link zoStud.IP)
Module 3: Literature networks
Literature networking tools such as Inciteful, Local Citation Networks and Open Knowledge Maps show and visualize thematic connections between scientific works. They help to find new relevant publications based on a starting paper and to analyze the literature network.
Dates offered:
- Monday, 12.05.2025, 10-11 am (Link to Stud.IP)
- Tuesday, 10.06.2025, 2-15 pm (Link to Stud.IP)
The events are directed at students as well as researchers and lecturers. They are open to members of Bremen University of Applied Sciences, Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences, the University of Bremen and the University of the Arts Bremen and take place via Zoom.
Participation is free of charge. Please register by e-mail to schulungsanfrage@suub.uni-bremen.de or via Stud.IP.
