The Plot Twisters
The theatre group The Plot Twisters is a staple of the English-Speaking Cultures programme. It specialises in improvisational theatre, the art of making up theatrical moments on the spot in front of an audience.
The Plot Twisters put on a new show every semester, inspired by the tradition of Chicago-style longform improvisation. Formats such as “The Harold” or “The Deconstruction” unfold a one-word suggestion from the audience in a variety of improvised moments. The performers explore themes, absurdities, and deeper truths, creating new perspectives on the original suggestion.
The group emerges every semester from the Theatre Workshop, as part of the English-Speaking Cultures study programme. During the lecture period, the Theatre Workshop consists of weekly sessions to learn the fundamentals of improvisational theatre. After these introductory sessions, students can either go on to become performers or take on a behind-the-scenes role in production and marketing. Performers take part in a two-week intensive before performing in front of a live audience in the semester break. Students who work behind the scenes are responsible for making the show a success and will gain valuable experience in cultural management.

- The workshop is in English and open to students from all faculties and study programmes. You can earn credits for your General Studies module, your Supplementary Studies module in the M.A E-SC programme or Praxismodul Theater in the M.A. TNL programme.
