Einstein Telescope: the next generation in gravitational wave astronomy

I will give a brief introduction to gravitational waves and their detection. Starting with examples from current gravitational wave detectors, I will explain the scientific goals of the Einstein Telescope, as well as some of the technical limitations in sensitivity and how we are trying to overcome them. Finally, I will conclude with a summary of the project's current status.
