Die durch das Graduiertenkolleg GSBC-EIC (The Economics of Innovative Change) der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena und der internationalen Max Planck School organisierte Veranstaltung bringt mehr als 30 WissenschaftlerInnen aus dem In- und Ausland zusammen. In der Summer School werden Vorträge und Workshops zu einer Vielzahl von Themenfeldern gehalten: „Workflow of Statistical Data Analysis", „Industrial Dynamics", „Economic Analysis of Contract Law", „Entrepreneurship", „Econometrics of Policy Evaluation", „Rationales and models for modern innovation policy", „Virtual Reality Experiments" und „R&D, innovation and productivity (slowdown?)".

Jessica Birkholz präsentierte das Exposé ihreres Dissertationsprojektes mit dem Titel "Informal Institutions and Entrepreneurship in a Regional Context – Conceptual Challenges and Analytical Directions". Die Forschungsarbeiten setzen sich mit dem Einfluss informeller Institutionen auf regionale Entrepreneurshipaktivitäten auseinander.
