Maciej Grodzicki from Jagiellonian University Cracow visited our faculty

From May 20 to 24, 2019 Maciej Grodzicki from Jagiellonian University Cracow, Institute of Economics, Finance and Management visited our faculty at the University of Bremen.

During his research visit he presented one of his recent papers titled ““Structural change in global value chains and cost-competitiveness – vertically-integrated analysis of the European automotive sector” and discussed it with colleagues from the Institute for Economic Research and Policy (ierp). Further, he gave a guest lecture on “Innovation Cooperation” in the master course “Innovation Economics: Empirics” (Prof. Dr. Jutta Günther), an obligatory course for all students in business studies who take the focus area innovation economics. Above this, Maciej Grodzicki not only took the chance to meet with colleagues from the ierp institute, but also with the vice dean of our faculty, Jörg Freiling, who as an entrepreneurship researcher is also closely related to the Institute of Economics, Finance and Management at Jagiellonian University.  

The Jagiellonian University Cracow is the oldest university in Poland, consisting of fifteen faculties and having more than 40,000 students. The Jagiellonian University, Institute of Economics, Finance and Management is a strategic partner of the Faculty of Business Studies and Economics of the University of Bremen. Maciej Grodzicki is a young and promising assistant professor interested in evolutionary economics, international political economy, and empirical analyses of global value chains. From 2016 to 2018, he was a postdoc researcher at our faculty in cooperation with the University of Sussex, based on the highly competitive international P.R.I.M.E. award of the German Academic Exchange Service.
